Moab 2006

We were able to go as a family to Moab for a vacation. We piggy-backed with the Cottonwood 6th Scout troop as they took us hiking and fed us great food. We appreciated their generosity and help. Evan loved chasing the scouts and wanting to play football with them. When they set the football down, Evan raced to pick it up and carried it around. We hiked the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park. The picture shows how Evan rode on Daddy's back. He loved it so much he even fell asleep while hiking. We also went to Canyonlands National Park. It rained that day, but we still had fun splashing in the puddles. We slept in a tent and Evan thought the tent was a fun place to play and wrestle with his mommy. We hope we can take another trip as a family again soon!

One year old!

Evan turned one year old on Thursday, July 20. He had a party at his house and invited all his cousins. They had hot dogs and hamburgers.



They also played with each other. Evan received lots of fun presents that his cousins helped him open and play with.



The weather was perfect (well, it was hot but it is July!) and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Fishing in the Uintas

Evan loves to be with his daddy, and fishing has become one of his favorite activities.


















He also loves picnicing and riding in his daddy's jeep. He is all boy!

Springtime in Salt Lake City

We had to take advantage of the beautiful blue flowers that bloom in Grandma's lawn at this time of year. Evan of course looks so angelic and darling as this picture shows.



















Evan's daddy also enjoyed the beautiful springtime weather we have had the past few days.

Tulsa time

We are here in Tulsa and it is just as cold as Salt Lake, which is disappointing, but we are used to it and prepared. Evan has been such a good boy. He did good on the flight. He slept an hour and played an hour. If the airlines wouldn't have lost our luggage, we would have had a perfect trip. We were away from our luggage for 24 hours. Evan got really used to wearing his pajamas all day as well as all night! The hotel provided a "pack-n-play" for Evan to sleep in. If we stand him up, he will hold on to the side himself for a long time! We can barely see his head sticking up over the side. Evan's daddy was able to rent a Jeep Commander for us sto use. We have loved it. We went shopping today and found some cute clothes for Evan. He charmed all the sales people and got lots of attention!

We are a happy family

Evan's daddy has come home from Oklahoma, finally! He had a great time and even bought a new shirt for Evan. We are all going to go to Oklahoma together next week and be together. It should be really fun. I hope that we can handle the airplane! (Actually, I hope Evan can handle the airplane without a problem.) We will have to take some pictures of Tulsa and place on this blog!

It's tooth time!

Evan cut his first tooth today, Tuesday March 7. It is his bottom left tooth. I thought that he might be cutting his teeth yesterday, but Auntie Haley felt his gums and didn't think so. But, sure enough, today his tooth is visible and you can feel the sharp points of it. Evan hasn't been sleeping well and so I was trying to think of all the reasons why - teething was on the list, but I wasn't sure. So, now we will probably be starting a series of teething episodes, starting with his matching tooth on the bottom. This is a sign that my baby is growing up, and that he will need to start eating more regular food.

Evan also started rolling around the house. He rolled about 5 times around from one side of the room to the other. He was so proud! I wonder if he will crawl or just roll around!

Evan's daddy is in Oklahoma for his job right now, so we wanted to update him and anyone else on the activities of Evan this week!

Evan is not sleeping well at night and it is frustrating to me, his mommy. I have found that it is difficult to handle Evan all by myself. He doesn't seem to mind, though. He is giggling and smiling all the time. He loves to be held by his mommy, but he now weighs 18 pounds - hard for me to hold him as much as he would like. I purchased a Lucky Baby sling to carry Evan around, but it doesn't work like I thought it would, which is disappointing. Evan is too big now for his infant carrier car seat - what am I going to do?

Evan's grandma and I went shopping for fabric to make Evan a quilt for Easter. We found the front fabric, but not the back coordinating fabric, which is a bummer. We went to every fabric store in the valley and couldn't find anything that would work. I hope we can find something to make Evan a cute, cuddly quilt. We carried him in his infant seat and it practically broke our backs - he is so heavy!

We went to swimming lessons today and Evan loved it. Here is a picture of Evan last month swimming with his daddy. We want him to get comfortable in the water so that he will want to swim for fun and later on for exercise.
